How To Be a Life Explorer

Being a wanderer of life is not the easiest thing to do! Sometimes its hard, being willing to get lost over and over again until you find the path. Or no path. So take these five steps as a some-what road map for exploring the ins and outs of this crazy little thing called life.

1.) Don’t be afraid to fail. Failure and success are relative terms.

2.) Go where other people don’t go. Find a record store. A hole in the wall bar. A store that only sells antique shoes. Go there and sit. Don’t do anything else. Just sit. And record what you see. See what life shows you when it thinks no one is looking.

3.) Stay up late. Really late. By about 3:00 in the morning, the busy buzz to the day is gone, and the world becomes itself again.

4.) Write it down. Or sing about it. Or take pictures. Memory is a salient thing, and you need a way to make sure that you’re actually going to remember all those things you want to remember.

5.) Life is everywhere. That means exploring is everywhere. Don’t let someone tell you what you’re doing is stupid or wrong or not part of what you should be looking at. Do what you want to do and let life – let the universe – show you.

There you have it! The ways to be an explorer of life. This post was inspired by the following book, which I just recently recieved as a gift.

I have decided that you and I would be great friends if we lived near each other, Chelsea! Exploring is one of my favorite things. And I love listening to music no one else has heard of and foreign and indie films and going to holes in the wall around town and finding little things like this bring so much joy to me! Maybe I should make a list of all of the things I love to explore…hmmm….:)
